Woodford WI

Founded in 1939, Woodford WI has around 103 members. Meetings are normally held on the first Thursday of the month at the The Woodford Centre, Chester Road, starting at 7.30 pm. Visitors and new members welcome.

Diary Dates


As well as the activities mentioned above, there are several sub groups which meet frequently. The Bridge group is not a competitive serious one. Members play social rubber bridge and meet every Monday at The Singing for Fun group meets on a Monday.They perform several time a year for local groups.A Table Tennis group plays once a week.Craft group meets on the first and third Wednesday afternoon of the month. The Darts group meets weekly on a Thursday afternoon. The walkers have a program of walks for the year. The Gardening group works on the Jubilee Garden at the Woodford Centre and the Book Club meets in Bramhall library.A Classical Music appreciation group meets regularly in each other's houses.The entertainment group puts on sketches and songs on request for local groups as well as for our own WI.


The craft group have worked on items to sell at the Christmas fair and other occasions. They have made lap covers for an elderly person's home in Stockport. They are also making decorations for Christmas and have had 2 interesting workshops to learn new skills.

We are planning to raise money for the WI charity ACWW.

Jubilee Garden
The gardening group have continued to work on the gardenat the side of the Woodford Centre they built for the Jubilee with WI funding. We have received many compliments from people who use the Woodford Centre
