Woodford WI

Founded in 1939, Woodford WI has around 103 members. Meetings are normally held on the first Thursday of the month at the The Woodford Centre, Chester Road, starting at 7.30 pm. Visitors and new members welcome.

Diary Dates


As well as the activities mentioned above, there are several sub groups which meet frequently. The Bridge group is not a competitive serious one. Members play social rubber bridge and meet every Monday at The Singing for Fun group meets on a Monday.They perform several time a year for local groups.A Table Tennis group plays on Monday mornings.Craft group meets on the first and third Wednesday afternoon of the month. The darts group meets weekly on a Thursday afternoon. The walkers have a program of walks for the year. The gardening group is working on the Jubilee garden at the Centre and the book club meets in Bramhall library.A classical music appreciation group meets regularly in each other's houses.The entertainment group puts on sketches and songs on request for local groups as well as for our own WI.


Health and Safety
The Committee are updating the Health and Safety guidelines for the WI activities held at Woodford Centre.We also are running Heart Start courses for the benefit of our members and the community.

We are planning to raise money for a local charity.Young Sound Vision.

Selling WI produce.
We purchased preserves aprons and tea towels from the WI suppliers and sold them at a local production of Calendar Girls. Profits made will support our activities as a WI.

Craft Group
The craft group have been knitting clothing and toys for the premature baby unit at Stepping Hill Hospital Stockport.

Jubilee Garden
The Community Garden at Woodford Community centre is coming on nicely and we had a good display of bulbs and Spring plants. The garden is a much appreciated haven for wildlife and plants and locals are beginning to discover its beauty. A hardworking team from our WI continues to maintain and improve it.
