Haughton Faddiley & District WI

Founded in 1951, Haughton Faddiley & District WI has around 27 members. Meetings are normally held on the second Tuesday of the month at the Goodwill Hall, Wrexham Road, starting at 7.30 pm. Visitors and new members welcome.

Activities

Haughton, Faddiley & District is a small rural WI. We hold social and fund raising events - the first this year was a Coffee Morning in April, followed by a Strawberry Tea in June. Last year we won third place in the Healthy Lifestyle Challenge, and this year members have enrolled in Pilates classes, to be held at our meeting hall. We have had garden trips, walks and visits to the theatre. Our Scrabble Team and Quiz Team will both be campaigning again this year.

Projects

Healthy Lifestyle - Keeping Fit
Following on from a physiotherapist's talk on "Why Posture is Impoprtant" and our success in the NFWI's "Healthy Lifestyle" competition, members are taking part in a six-week Pilates course to improve their general fitness. This was very successful, and Pilates classes are still continuing.

Runner Bean Competition
Members had mixed results after each was given three Suttons "Enorma" runner bean seeds to get climbing. Some were eaten by rabbits, the drought saw a few off and mice had a feast! The eventual winner was Georgina Denny with a 15½ inch bean, and she was presented with a garden gift voucher by the President, Eileen Allwood.
