Birchwood WI

Founded in 1990, Birchwood WI has around 17 members. Meetings are normally held on the second Wednesday of the month at the Birchwood Seniors Centre, 48 Benson Road, starting at 7.30 pm. Visitors and new members welcome.

Margaret G is organising another bowls 'try' morning as we all enjoyed it and news of the county competition inspired us - maybe next year we might even enter!

Projects

Cheshire Show
Success! Margaret G won 3rd in the photo competition with Barbara getting 'commended', Margaret H got 3rd and commended in the floral art categories. The rest of the entries - and there were two painting, two other photos, one craft and a class 2 combined exhibit - all received good marks and constructive comments. For a small institute - that's not a bad year at the Show!

Spending the bursary!
We spent some of the bursary money on a bowls try morning. A group of us spent a bright and dry Saturday morning getting to grips with finger peg and thumb peg. We had a lot of fun although there were a few aching thigh muscles in the days to come! Some of us were so interested that we may do it again - watch out, we may form a team (see note above!) (can't be worse than our quiz team!!!).

21st birthday party
Well, we had our party and had a great time. Lots of food and wine, lots of dancing (of a sort!) and plenty of laughter. We had guests from way back when, and also from the Birchwood Seniors from whom we rent our room. All had a super time and went home with cake and pressys.
